The Value Proposition

The ability to readily modify the availability and reliability of positioning signals is beyond the reach of GPS, or any other technology that lacks native control of the transmitters that generate the location signal.

This is Locata technology’s essential point of difference.

A LocataNet is, effectively, a local constellation of terrestrial “satellites” that behaves just like the GPS constellation in space.

However, unlike GPS where signals are so weak that they cannot penetrate into buildings, Locata’s signals are very powerful – approximately one million times more powerful than GPS.

Locata’s radio signals currently use the licence-free 2 GHz wireless spectrum, but can be designed to operate at other frequencies.

LocataTech creates highly reliable, extremely scalable cm-accurate Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) networks with:

Today, LocataNets are delivering accurate PNT to systems operating outdoors in challenging positioning environments in mining, industrial, aviation and military markets.

Importantly, Locata has also demonstrated high accuracy positioning indoors in high multipath locations.  These difficult outdoor and indoor environments, which include dense city and urban “canyons” have been the bane of accurate positioning because of a number of factors, but principally due to errors produced by multipath signals.  Locata’s technology includes a new type of antenna – the VRay – that mitigates multipath and makes possible revolutionary new applications in machine automation and robotics.

LocataNets are fully compatible and interoperable with GPS, Galileo and other GNSS systems but can also operate totally autonomously in areas such as indoors where satellite signals are not available.
